Shopping for the Perfect Dress
I am so excited! Desperate Housewives is nominated for a SAG Award for Best Comedy Ensemble. It is such an honor for me to be nominated a second year in row for a SAG Award. Last year, I met so many amazing actors and actresses like Zac Efron, John Travolta (please keep his family and him in your prayers), Cuba Gooding Jr.(loved him in Snow Dogs), and others.
This year, based on the nominations, these actors should be in attendance – James Earl Jones (oh, come on, the voice of this man is incredible and I love Star Wars), Anne Hathaway (Get Smart is one of best movies ever!), Steve Carrell (Get Smart is one of the best movies ever! :) ), and Brad Pitt (Benjamin Button is an incredible, incredible movie and he was incredible in it), among so many others.
As a nominee - I’m so excited!-- I will walk the Red Carpet, attend the dinner and awards ceremony, and have fun at the after-party. All of that is amazing, right? Now the work begins, and I promise I’m not complaining…... Shopping for the Perfect Dress…..
Shopping for the Perfect Dress is so much fun, but it definitely takes effort and focus. First, I have to wear something appropriate for my age. Have you seen the plunging necklines of some of the dresses and gowns? Next, I have to consider color size and appropriateness. I definitely do not want to end up on the Don’t Wear this List. Then I have to find shoes that are beautiful, comfortable, and once again appropriate for my age. Have you seen the 5-inch heels that are in right now?
Next there’s the matching purse, if I decide to carry one, and a jacket that will look nice with such a formal dress. Do I have any formal jackets or wraps hanging around in my closet? Also, I’m starting to think of last year’s up-do with 55 bobby pins used to keep each and every hair in place. Do I want that type of look or should I go with a different look this year?
Have I left anything out? Yup…. My toenails are screaming pedicure for the open-toed shoes I bought, and I have to find some pretty, diamond-y bobby pins for whatever hair style happens to be created, and makeup. Just a tiny bit. Enough to keep me from being shiny, enough for a thin eyeline, and enough for a little shine on my lips.
Anything else? Uh-huh…. While the list goes on and on, it is going to be the most amazing experience ever! I never for one minute take for granted how much I love living every part of being an actress. Being on the set is and will always be my number one favorite thing in the whole world. But I do love Shopping for the Perfect Dress!
